"Laugh out loud" is a common phrase used to describe the act of audibly expressing amusement. It"s the sound you make when your boss tells a terrible joke, or when your friend accidentally trips over their own feet (not that I would know anything about that). So go ahead and LOL, just don"t do it during a funeral.
